MORRIS, Walter Albert

Biographical notes: 

Walter Albert Morris was 39 years and 11 months old when he enlisted on 11 September, 1915. By then he must have known of the loss of life of the Gallipoli campaign, so it was an act of bravery and patriotism to decide at that point that he wanted to go to the war. He was a motor driver and mechanic, living with his wife, Catherine at 173 Simpson St., East Melbourne.

MORRISON, Herbert Fraser

Herbert Fraser Morrison was born on 5 December 1892 at Inveraven, Erin Street, Richmond, although on his enlistment papers he stated that he was born in East Melbourne.  He was the third and youngest son of Henry Howard Morrison (known as Howard) and his wife Esther, nee Mack (or Mark), and a grandson of Dr. Alexander Morrison, headmaster and principal of Scotch College from 1857 to 1903.

MORRISON, James Alexander

James Alexander Morrison was the son of James Morrison and his wife, Alexandra.  He was born on 15 November 1895 but the whereabouts of this event is not entirely certain.  On his enlistment papers he states that he was born in East Melbourne yet at the time his parents were living at Florida Station, near Cobar, NSW.

MORTON, Stanley William

Stanley Morton was born in East Melbourne in February 1894. At the time he enlisted, he was 24 years old, married, with one child and working as an electricia. He gave his own address on enlistment as 'Ottawa' Fishers' Parade, Ascot Vale, but hs wife's as 25 Victoria Parade, East Melbourne.
