McDONALD, Alexander Michael

Biographical notes: 

Alexander Michael McDonald was born on 27 November. 1896, to Michael Alexander McDonald and his Belgian wife, Elise Flora Marie Hartrive. He had one sister, Gladys Flora, born in 1898. His father died in 1908. amd at the time he enlisted, on 23 January, 1917, he was living with his widowed mother at 46 Simpson St., East Melbourne.

Benjamin James McDonald was 18 years and 9 months old when he enlisted to serve in the Great War. He was under age, but the authoritites accepted his application without dispute.

Malcolm John McGregor was born on 19 June, 1886. His parents,were Alexander Malcolm McGregor and Elizabeth Lilian McGregor, nee Rutherford. He was the eldest of four children born to the couple: Malcolm (1886), then Ernest (1889-1917), Robert (1891-1891), and Beatrice (1893 -?).

McKENZIE, Kenneth Fraser

Biographical notes: 

Kenneth Fraser McKenzie was the only living son of Mrs. Marjorie Jane Fraser McKenzie, a widow, and her  late husband George Kenneth McKenzie. He was brother to seven sisters: Margaret, Lila, Flora,Sara, Jane. Another son, Daniel, had died at two years of age. Mrs. McKenzie and her daughters lived at 60 [now 82] Jolimont Street, Jolimont.

McKENZIE, Willliam Maurice

Biographical notes: 
  • William Maurice McKenzie aged 37 enlisted on th 17 August 1914 and joined the 2nd Infantry Brigade 6th Battalion AIEF with the SERN 26
  • Attestation paper informs he was from Melbourne East, unmarried and unstated next of kin
  • William was a Telephone Repairer being 5 feet 8 & 1/2 inches weighing 12 stone 9 ozs with blue eyes and dark hair

McKEON, Thomas

Thomas McKeon was a student of Divinity and living at Vermont, Victoria, when he enlisted for the war on 23 October, 19015. Born at Enniscorthy in Ireland, his enlistment application identified both parents as dead, and no siblings. For his next of kin, he gave his wife, Stella Agnes McKeon, nee Allen. Stella was a registered nurse and living at Mrs.

Bertha McKinnell (1879–1963) was the youngest of five children (four daughters, one son) born to Francis McKinnell (c1839–1904) and his wife Mary Ann (nee Donnolly/Donnelly) (c1843–1927).

McKINNON, Mary

Mary McKinnon (1885–1979) born in Marnoo, Victoria, the third of seven children born to Godfrey McKinnon (1847–1934) and his second wife Margaret (nee Patience) (c1851–1916).

McLAUCHLAN, William

Biographical notes: 

William McLauchlan enlisted on 19 August, 1914. He was 26 years old, single and working as a tailor at 130 McKillop St., Geelong. He had been  born in Aberfeldy, Perthshire, Scotland and cited 7 years military experience with the Black Watch (3rd Battalion, Royal Regiment of Scotland) prior to coming to Australia. He was 5' 9" tall and by faith, Presbyterian.

McLEOD, George Reginald Arthur

Biographical notes: 

George Reginald Albert McLeod was born in Northcote in May 1896 and enlisted to serve in the war in 1914, when he was just twenty years and three months old. His father, George Frederick McLeod, a civil servant,was then living at 'Airlie', 314 Albert St., East Melbourne with his wife Elizabth, nee Williams and   Reg. gave this address as that of his next of kin.
