The original Holy Trinity Church was built in 1864 and was in George Street, East Melbourne, near the corner of Clarendon Street. On New Year's Day 1905 the church was completely gutted by fire.
This photo was taken by Norman K Harvey, a professional photographer and also a local resident and member of the congregation. It is one of a series of photos [see link below]. It is a scanned copy of the original.
The photo shows firemen hosing down the interior of the building, with some interested onlookers standing in the background.
