Holy Trinity Church: aftermath of 1905 fire

The original Holy Trinity Church was built in 1864 and was in George Street, East Melbourne, near the corner of Clarendon Street. On New Year's Day 1905 the church was completely gutted by fire.

Photo of interior of Holy Trinity Church, East Melbourne The church was completed in 1906. According to Laurence Moore, church warden and organist at Holy Trinity, the organ currently in the church was installed in 1913 replacing the one shown in the photo which was on loan. These two dates set the limits for the photo as 1906-1913.

The Organ at Holy Trinity

The History of the organ at Holy Trinity. It was originally built for a private owner, Henry Boom of 'Yarradale', Hawthorn. Possibly Boom constructed the organ himself with the help of neighbours, Alfred Fuller and Fred Taylor.
