This book discusses the origins of women's education in nineteenth-century Australia. It focuses on private schools as opposed to State or Church run schools. It includes a short chapter on Vieusseux Ladies' College, East Melbourne and a photo of the proprietors, Julie and Lewis Vieusseux.

St Patrick's College - verandah

Black and white photo shows verandah at the rear of St Patrick's College.  The college was situated on the corner of Lansdowne Street and Cathedral Place, East Melbourne.  It was demolished in 1971 to make way for the Catholic Diocesan Centre.  One bluestone tower remains as a relic.

The Wisewould Chronicles

A history of the Wisewould family.  James Wisewould, solicitor and his wife, Sophia lived with their six small children at 99 Hotham Street in the late 1860s.  During this time at least two of the children attended Mrs Roberts School, Sydenham House, across the road at 80 Hotham Street.  Adeline, the eldest child, as a twelve year old wrote a diary for a period of just
