Following the success of our tour to the NGV in St Kilda Road last year when local resident, Krystyna Campbell-Pretty, arranged a tour of several portraits she had donated, this years’ tour demonstrates the long-overlooked talent of several Australian women artists, focussing once again on works Krystyna has donated, including Botanic Gardens by Emmeline Pritchard.

The Men Who Went to War

In 2014, Major-General Mike O’Brien gave us a list of men with a connection to East Melbourne who had volunteered for the 1st World War.

As a result of enthusiastic volunteers, we now have an archive of around 600 war records. some of which we would like to share with you at our April meeting.

Women Artists over 400 Years

Local resident, Krystyna Campbell-Pretty, has donated several portraits to the NGV which demonstrate the long-overlooked talent of women artists. She has arranged a guided tour of some of these works for us.

about her work in philanthropy.

Yarra Park State School: it's establishment and early days

Ian Hind has been researching and compiling a history of Yarra Park State School for over a year and has uncovered a mass of material.  

He will tell us the whys and wherefores of the school's establishment and regale us with some stories of those who made it happen.  Stories, too, of early students and what life was like for them at the school.

John Glover and Me

Dr Sue Barker is a descendant of early colonial artist, John Glover.  She is a local resident and well known to many of us.
