Built 1872 by John Wright for Alfred Kirkby - owner.
Architect W T Gore. 18 room mansion overlooking Fitzroy Gardens.
1981 bought by the Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists as their headquarters.

No.18 was previously No.34 and No.20 was No.32.
1859. MCC BR: Hornby and Pigdon to build 2 dwelling houses for Chas. Ebden.
1860. Occupants listed: Woodville and Jones.
1861. Chas. Ebden - owner. Occupiers: No.18 Woodville. For No.20 Francis James, till 1876. He was Commissioner for Audit.

1882. MCC BR: William Rankin to build dwelling house for W. Kirkby. Architect: Mr. C. Webb.
1885. Kirkby - owner/occupier. Brick, 10 rooms. Kirkby was a wine and spirit merchant at 300 Flinders Street. He appears to have previously owned and occupied No.20, listed as such in 1880. Refer entry for No.20.
