Elizabeth Cotton Clark of 190 George Street

Life story of Elizabeth Cotton Clark compiled by Margaret Clark with additional notes by Jason Clark. Elizabeth was a photographic colourist as well as a talented botanical artist. The house at 190 George Street was built for her in 1909.  She died only a year later. 

She was the sister of John James Clark, architect, noted for the Old Treasury building.

Recollections of East Melbourne by Richard King

A short, hand-written piece giving the personal recollections of Richard King, owner and occupier of 125 George Street during the 1960s and 1970s. He mentions Robin Cuming, 'Black Jack' McEwen, Mrs Clark, Ian Gardiner, Ben Marriner and Peter and Di Renou. Most of the people mentioned were Richard's immediate neighbours.

On 18 August 2021 heritage architect, Bruce Trethowan, followed up on his previous talk on Cliveden as the family home of Sir William and Lady Janet Clarke with the story of its purchase and conversion into luxury apartments, and its new inhabitants. A video of the presentation can be found here.
