In this chapter Brenda Niall states "It was probably late 1898 - her accounts of her departure vary - when Minnie Bruce left home for Melbourne. ... and during her first year at least she was able to board with her former teacher, Miss Beausire, who opened a school in Hotham Street, East Melbourne in 1899". The Sands & McDougall Post Office Directories list Miss Estelle Beausire at 111 Hotham Street 1900-1902.
