The image shows the old kiosk in the Fitzroy Gardens as it appeared when first built. A history of the building can be found using the link below. It was demolished in 1963 to make way for the current building known as The Pavillion.

Memories of Bims Restaurant

Wendy Pomroy's memories of Bims and Vagn Ove Gunness and their restaurant, Bims at 366 Albert Street.   Previously the pair had taken over Mirka, Mirka Mora's restaurant in the city, which they renamed Danish Delight.

Mirka Mora mural rediscovered

Newspaper clipping about the rediscovery of a mural on the wall of the old Balzac Restaurant, now Tippler & Co., at 58 Wellington Parade, East Melbourne. Balzac Restaurant was established in 1956 by Georges Mora and his wife, artist Mirka Mora, who painted the mural.

New Boundary Hotel Newsletter

In 1991 chef Lino d'Angelo leased the dining room of the New Boundary Hotel to run his Restaurant Menage. This newsletter lists the various activities planned at the restaurant including music nights and wine appreciation courses. The newsletter also reproduces an article by Claude Forrel about the new restaurant.

Ornamental Standard Saved From Scrap Heap

Newspaper article on the removal of cast iron standards from old bridge in Footscray prior to its demolition. One of the standards was bought by George Mora to convert to a fountain at his restaurant, Balzac in East Melbourne. A drawing of this became the restaurant's logo. The Mail, 7 March 1957.

Roccella

Newpaper clipping with brief report on a new restaurant to be established on the ground floor of the apartment building known as 150 Clarendon Street, a conversion of the old Mercy Maternity Hospital.  The restaurant will be called Roccella and run by Est Italia, a group made up of Francesco Crifo, Joe Ceraso and Bruno Ceraso.
