The 'iceberg' apartments

Newspaper clipping about a block of apartments to be built behind the old grocer's shop at 17 Gipps Street, East Melbourne. As a way of working around height restrictions some developers are finding extra floor space underground. This block of apartments will be 7.8 metres high but 10.5 metres underground. Includes diagrams.

Newspaper clipping about an extension to be built behind the historic house at 99 Hotham Street, East Melbourne. As a way of working around height restrictions some developers are finding extra floor space underground. This development includes a two level basement which will include a squash court, cellar, gymnasium, sauna, steam room and six car garage with a vehicle lift.
