Dick Thompson's Cottage
Seven photos of the interior of the cottage in Burchett Lane once owned by Dick Thompson before his renovating it. The cottage was previously the headquarters of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society, more commonly known as the Jehovah's Witnesses who sold it to Mr. Thompson in 1972. Mr. Thompson appears in two of the photos.

This cottage was once the stables belonging to the property at 20 George Street, and was for many years after the subdivision known as 20a George Street and could be accessed by a footpath from George Street. This is now blocked off and access is from Burchett Lane off Hotham Street. For the early part of the cottageās story see the history of 16-20 George Street (link below).

No 16 George Street was built by Robert Dixon for himself in 1869. The Rate Books described it as a two storey house of six rooms on a block of land having a 66 foot frontage to George Street. It was double-fronted.
