Date built:
1869
Architect:
W.H. Ellerker & Co.
Builder:
James Greenlaw
First owner:
David Gibson, flour miller
History:

The street numbers in Jolimont Terrace changed c.1950 consequently the house now numbered 14 was previously numbered 40. This has caused some confusion in pursuing its history. Winston Burchett in his research in the 1970s, had it correctly identified as the house built for David Gibson, who owned Gibson's Flour Mills on the corner of Queensberry and Leicester Streets, Carlton. He died in 1883 and his probate papers described the house as Lot 45. A subdivision map of Jolimont in the State Library confirms that Lot 45 was the same as the current No. 14.
