Bedggood: Friendly Footwear
Daniel Bedggood arrived in Melbourne in 1854. Almost immediately he set up a boot and shoe factory in Richmond. A successful business from the start, succeeding generations kept it going and his son, John, oversaw the transition to a new and bigger factory in Jolimont, at 22 Agnes Street, in 1899.

Hotham Street originally called Fitzroy Street. Apparently No.81, originally No.88.
1855. MCC BR: Brennand and Brooks for Jas. Glue a house, 5 rooms, kitchen. Unfinished.

A row of 16 terrace houses of five bays. The two end bays each comprising two houses and the central bay of four houses are arcaded, while the intervening bays, each of four houses, have cast iron verandahs and balconies. The terrace is often described as the longest in Melbourne.
Charles Butler gave notice of his intention to build on three dates in 1877. The first was 9 February 1877 for six 2 storey houses, the second was 24 April for four houses and lastly 31 May for another six houses.

Jolimont, Agnes Street 027, Morpeth Villa
Double fronted, single storey, brick house with verandah
The house first appears in the Rate Books in 1869 as a four roomed brick house and lists William Walker as owner. The Argus tells us that 'On the 23rd inst. (May 1872), at Morpeth Villa, Agnes Street, Jolimont, Mrs. William F. Walker [had] a son.' William Walker and his family lived in the house until 1875, but he remained owner until 1886.
