A report of the talk given by Ian Woodward on the occasion of the Annual General Meeting of the Australian Cricket Society. Frank Laver was an East Melbourne, Victorian and Australian Test allrounder whose career spanned 23 years from 1891-1914. He was a central figure in the 'Revolt of 1912' when some players refused to take part in the tour of England because the Board of Control would not accept Laver as manager. He played for the East Melbourne Cricket Club with great success. "He captained the First XI for 17 years, during which time the 'Easts' were either premiers or runners-up on 15 occasions. He was a committee member and selector for most of his time with the club. He was also a key figure in the development of baseball in Australia.
File contains front sheet of Notice of AGM including promo for the talk; and pp. 9-14 of Scoresheet, Spring 2000, Vol 21, No.4.
