The photo shows a symmetrical single storey house with bays on each side which continue up to the balustraded parapet. The verandah frieze is timber with iron inserts and is supported on double columns with ionic capitals. The central section of the verandah projects forward creating a front porch.
Standing on the verandah are four members of the Howarth family. From left to right are Elizabeth Helena Howarth; her husband, Robert William Howarth [?]; and her sons, Rupert and Eric.
In the early 1900s the street number for the property was 213. However the street was renumbered in the 1930s. The house was on part of the site now occupied by the Victoria and Albert apartments, 400 Victoria Parade.
