Stanley Harvey was eighteen and four months old when he enlisted to join the AIF. He was an electircla engineer by training and gave his address as Parliament Place, Melbourne. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and had one sister, Norah Harvey, to whom he would leave his possessions. His mother still resided in Scotland, but his father, James Allan Harvey lived at 400 Collins St., Melbourne, and later at 'Charleston', South Rd., Brighton.

Stan Harvey enlisted on 8 May, 1918, and was sent to the Recruitment Depot at Broadmeadows, where he underwent training from 10 June until 2 July. On 3 July, he was attached to the 10th Rifles, General Services Reinforcements, embarking from Melbourne on 31 August on HMAT A37 Barambah.

On 15 October, when the Barambah was in the vicinity of Freetown, Sierra Leon, Stan Harvey was admitted to the Ship's Hospital with influenza. He died at 4.45pm on 18 October and was buried at sea on 21 October.

His family were awarded a Memorial Plaque and Scroll.
